Over the years I have written about my neighbors, the chipmunks, feral cats, and squirrels. As perhaps you remember me writing, the cats use my gardens as their lounge and living room. They run home (where they are fed) for dinner, and quickly return, slowly strolling back to their lounge. My stonewall houses the chipmunk community. When the cats return, they slowly and purposefully meander at the walls looking for dessert, I suppose.
The other day it was so funny. The cat sat stalking the chipmunk. The chipmunk sat watching the cat’s every move. The squirrel danced on the wall above the chipmunk, oblivious to the standoff, and yet assisting the chipmunk in having more life . . . and I stood in my home watching the whole scene transpire. Too funny. Fortunately for me, in that moment, nothing happened except the squirrel innocently danced.
A little fun.
