Thrown Wishes

It was fun to dabble with Rick Daddario’s 30-day’s of Haiga prompt for today: “rice and/or seeds”.  I thought I was behind, but just now realized today was the 8th – how fun to be on time.  If you get a chance, I hope you check out Rick’s blog, A 19 Planets Art Blog 2010/2012 on WordPress – http://wp.me/SBwA .

In preparing this haiga I learned that the tradition of throwing rice was to throw wishes of prosperity.  I also learned that it is a myth that rice thrown at weddings is detrimental to birds.  So there you have it, you now know as much as I do about rice and weddings.

Have fun today.

  2. aloha Kris – way cool. i particularly like the line “thrown wishes” and then to follow it up with “scattered around their feet” – oh. that is way insightful seeing (imo). it leaps me right into just about every wedding memory i have with rice flinging.

yeah, i’m having great fun with 30 Days of Haiga. seeing what others are doing is inspiring and definitely urging me on to risk more. …even when i dont, i suspect that sense will linger long after our month. way cool on that. thank you for looking, commenting, playing, creating, linking up and contributing. way cool. – aloha.

Would love to hear from you...
