It has been awhile since I have had an opportunity to participate in Madison Woods’ Friday Fictioneer, 100-Word Prompts. If you are not familiar with Friday Fictioneers, I invite you to check her out on Facebook or at www.madison-woods.com . Every week she shares a photo and hundreds all over the world write 100-word fiction excerpts and share them through her site. It is a wonderful community. I highly encourage you to get involved. Here is this week’s photo with my story below. I welcome input and critique.
“He said he dumped her in the barrens. Do you know how many hundreds of acres these barrens are? And swamps? Another needle in a haystack.”

Mike and Joe were honored by the governor yesterday for the mutilation case, and today they’re searching the barrens.
” Joe, stop! Backup, the buzzard! Let’s check out the buzzard, he knows.”
” Oh, yeah, we get by with a little help from our friends. Any luck and we’ll be in the governor’s office next week, again. Another day, Joe, just another day.
Into the swamp they waded.
