I love this photo. The white “duck-goose” returns every year with this particular flock of geese. It is so much fun to try to spot her/him when the geese return to Blue Marsh Lake in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
Juxtaposition is one of my favorite words to use – you know that, if you know me. When I was taking my pre-SAT tests in tenth or eleventh grade I remember leaving the testing site feeling like a failure with the vocabulary part of the test. I remembered the word “juxtaposition” and looked it up when I got home – the days of dictionaries. From that day on, I have used the word and have fun doing so.
Renso might not be a word you are familiar with, so let me share with you that term. Renso is a loose association of different or unlike images. One of the lines of a haiku links the two images together. Writing quality haiku with the japanese tradition of kigo, kireji, and renso is the fun and creativity of haiku. Sometimes I think I succeed, and so often I know I don’t. For me, the joy is in the learning.
Enjoy the experience, and the day.
