Haiku: Hibernal lantern

What a beautiful full (almost full) moon last evening.  I was traveling without my camera, and when I got to my camera, the moment was gone, but the thoughts were not.  I share this haiku being mindful of the journey, the winter sky, and adding it to a photo remembering this moment on the water.

So many have written about the light of the moon over the years.   Since I am dedicating this year to haiku, I thought I would share a haiku about the moon from Matsuo Basho, one of the masters of haiku.

Moonlight Slanting  by Matsuo Basho
Moonlight slanting
through the bamboo grove;
a cuckoo crying.
Matsuo Bashō (松尾 芭蕉?, 1644 – November 28, 1694), born Matsuo Kinsaku (松尾 金作?), then Matsuo Chūemon Munafusa (松尾 忠右衛門 宗房?),[1][2] was the most famous poet of the Edo period in Japan. During his lifetime, Bashō was recognized for his works in the collaborative haikai no renga form; today, after centuries of commentary, he is recognized as a master of brief and clear haiku. His poetry is internationally renowned, and within Japan many of his poems are reproduced on monuments and traditional sites. (Reference: Wikipedia)
